Summer party feat. Danny Tenaglia and Francois K
The Hacienda have staged two amazing events that we've attended at the Albert Hall previously. One was an outstanding New Year's Eve with Frankie Knuckles, Marshall Jefferson and Todd Terry. That event was the first clubnight to be hosted in the Peter Street venue since it opened, and it has been a major new player in the nightlife scene for over 18 months now. The second Hac party featured live performances, with the Stereo MC's and the Happy Mondays headlining back in October and giving the night more of a party vibe. The bands were followed by many of the usual Hac suspects, such as Graeme Park, but some of the crowd left early. The division of styles between live acts and house music DJs caused a rift in the crowd. So how does Manchester's biggest club brand of all time, super or otherwise, come back with something to counter that?
The solution was to create an event that has a certain thematic consistency to it. Classic American house and live bands were already covered, so how about some New York legends whose taste has leaned towards deep electronica, thickly-basslined monsters and vintage electro? With that in mind, the forthcoming August 1 party stars two such US legends: Danny Tenaglia and Francois Kevorkian. Once you're in through the Albert Hall doors, you'll want to stay the entire party's length to make sure you don't miss anything, and out of respect for these two superstars.
Strong support comes from Hacienda residents Mike Pickering, Justin Robertson (Lionrock, Most Excellent, The Deadstock 33s) and Jon Dasilva (Hot). Jon has named Francois K as one of the artists that has influenced him in his early days, so this party'll no doubt be a special one for him, warming up for one of his heroes. No Graeme Park on this occasion, but the Scotsman is such a Hacienda party regular that he has earned a night off.
