Big Event at Sankeys Manchester Dec 27
It wouldn't be a Manchester Christmas without the city's most legendary club brand returning to one of Manchester's three most prominent club venues. This time it's the turn of Sankeys to host the Hacienda Xmas bash with a clutch of the club's revered residents.
First off, the tickets are now in short supply. If you're thinking you might go to this party before finishing reading this, click this Skiddle ticket link to open the page in another tab, ready. Previous, recent Hacienda events, especially at the Albert Hall, have been strong on A-list guests such as Derrick May, David Morales and the late Frankie Knuckles. Superstar guest DJs light up a club so briefly. They play for a few hours, and are then gone. Mixcloud audio, Facebook photos and Youtube footage are the only evidence that they were ever there.
While the guest DJs might have produced and mixed your favourite club's anthems, it's a club's residents who are the ones who played the tunes that you associate with it. They get those tracks into your head before anyone else, create an atmosphere with them and elevate a dancefloor from a bit of covered ground into a place where worries are forgotten.
It wouldn't be a Manchester Christmas without the city's most legendary club brand returning to one of Manchester's three most prominent club venues. This time eight resident DJs are playing, covering the time period from the opening in 1982 to the closing in 1997. So whether your musical bent leans towards early electro, US vocal house, or anything you heard at the Hacienda above, below and between, we're expecting the dance musical angles to get covered.
Plus it's an opportunity to burn off a few Christmas over-indulgence calories. Hopefully, you've already got Wednesday 28th off work, through having a generous employer, being a student or you booked the days between Xmas and NYE off already anyway. Christmas parties have always got a slightly different vibe. It's optimum party season and people are generally in good moods and willing to come out of hibernation or out of their clubbing retirement for a special event.
